think of it like a conversion from meters to feet, if you plug in some measurement in meters into this function, you should get EXACTLY ONE result if you wanted to convert 2 meters to feet, you shouldn't get more than one result...or else, which one would you pick? which one is the true equivalent of 2 meters?
