It took James 5 hours to paint an 8ft by 24ft wall. At this rate, how long would it take him to paint a 12ft by 36ft wall? Explain how you got your answer

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Well about half more time of the 8ft by 24ft wall So 5 divided by 2 = 2.5 so its 7 and half hours.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where did you get the 5 divided by 2 from? @nathan917

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Well It took James 5 hours to paint an 8ft by 24ft wall.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait it takes about 1/4 more time so would it be 6.25 hours?

OpenStudy (nathan917):

well it took him 5 hrs to paint a 8ftx24ft wall.

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Whats half of 8 and 24?

OpenStudy (nathan917):

4 and 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why half?

OpenStudy (nathan917):

Because 12ft if 4 more than 8 and 36ft if 12 more than 24. so..

OpenStudy (nathan917):

So its about half more time. Get what im saying?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (nathan917):
