Trig problem: Find the exact value for this trigonometric expression. (in the comments)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\tan(-15^{o})\]

Directrix (directrix):

I would try tan (-15) = tan(30 - 45). Look up the forumula for the tangent of a difference of two angles and crank it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay. I had tried tan(45-60) but my answer was different from the book's.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Got it, thank you.

Directrix (directrix):

tan(45-60) --> This should have worked. Your answer may have been equivalent to the one in the book. Glad to know you got the answer.
