how does this get distributed ? 3(12-7r^2)(10r-5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[3(12-7r ^{2})(10r-5)\] you first have to distribute the three to the first set of ( )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you get when you distribute the 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3*12)-(3*7r^2) = 36 - 21r^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i meant 3*-7r^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep :) so is that all they are asking or is there anything further that you need to do ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what next ? i have only done (expressions)(expressions) type of distributions... does the three belong solely to the first (expressions) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes because it is right up against the ( ) it would mean same thing as 3(-4) which is also multiplication! ( )( ) usually means then that you multiply those two together if there is nothing else you can do inside

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)
