If A = {2, 4, 6, 8, 10…} and B = {1, 3, 5, 7, …}, what is A ∩ B? HELP!!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what do the two sets have in common?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what number or numbers are in both sets at the same time?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Uhh...None of themm...

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that's correct, set A is the set of even numbers while set B is the set of odd numbers a number is either even or odd and cannot be both at the same time so the two sets have NOTHING in common, which means that the intersection of sets A and B is the empty set

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

A ∩ B = empty set which is a mathematical way to say that they share nothing in common

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So is it only the brackets? for the answer?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes, one way to say "empty set" is to write { }

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

or writing a O with a slash through the O is another way to say "empty set"

Thanks guyyss(:
