Almost. There wouldn't be a 3 at the end. Just 9x-3x. I assume for the second part with the simplified would just be combining terms to 6x.

Basically, since it isn't the same problem, for part a they want exactly what the statement tells you then the second part they want you to make it so that you don't have as many steps to do when you do go to solve it.
