k, start by thinking of one "serving" salsa. just using the ratios you are given. you will have 2 cups of pepper, 5 cups of onion, and 9 cups of tomato. overall that is 16 cups
now lets try to so what fraction of the salsa is onion
well, in a 16 cup serving there would be 5 cups of onion so that means the fraction is 5/16
now that we know that fraction overall, we can find out how much you need for any amount of salsa. we just multiply the amount by the fraction. so for 96 cups we do (5/16) x 96 = 30 cups of onion
so 5/16 x 96?
