Advantages of the Union in the civil war, was that they had more economic sources from which to rely on. Plus the Union also had more technology from which to rely on. The north also had more people on their military. Although many of those who fought for north were middle and lower class men who worked in factory's and textiles most of time. The confederacy had the better of two army's, being the southerners had more experience with gun handling and outdoor work. But on the flip side they had less people in military then the Union. They also relied heavily on Union for food & money. The south traded its one sole beneficiary thing which was cotton, with great britain, but once they saw that great britain would not help them in war they quickly saw defeat due to lack in numbers of their army.
