The value of an industrial machine has a decay factor of 0.75 per year. After six years, the machine is worth $7500. What was the original value of the machine?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try to do this problem backwards lets say the initial value is x 6 years later the value is (x)(.75)^6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.75^6 = .178

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if (x)(.178)=7500 then 7500/.178 = x = the initial value
