Asking for someone to check the answer. Multiply (x^5+y^4)(x^5-x^4)
I got x^10-x+y^4x^5+y$x^4
@HawkCrimson
use the difference squares formula : (a+b)(a-b) = a^2 - b^2
then it would be x^5-x^4y^4
i think you had a typo is it \[(x^5+y^4)(x^5-y^4)\]??
yes
Difference of squares
okay, do you just therefore is it x^5-x^4y^4
not exactly
okay, how do you solve it then?
Just to confirm, are you sure that what @satellite73 posted is correct?
yes, its suppose to be (x^5+y^4)(x^5-y^4)
What he posted is different from what you posted originally.
Okay, so use difference of squares formula to solve.
my apology it was a typo. okay but I am not understanding do you multiply, add, subtract to what?
???
(x^5+y^4)(x^5-x^4) we expand it normally using FOIL
okay do you add the exponents for x^5*x^5 would it be ^10th or ^25th
x^10
okay so then with everything foiled out would it be x^10-x^5y^4+y^4x^5+y^8?
it's (x^5+y^4)(x^5-x^4) not (x^5+y^4)(x^5-y^4) :) that's ur mistake
unless u made a typo in ur question
I made a typo..
She made a typo in her question. Which we already discussed and cleared up. Maybe you should read the entire convo @HawkCrimson before commenting.
it's suppose to be with the second equation of (x^5-y^4)
I asked for his help, so with everything foiled out do it turn out to be x^10-x^5y^4+y^4x^5+y^8?
-y^8
@PECKCE, I know you asked for his help. I didn't stop him from helping you. I was just letting him know that we had already addressed the typo.
and hero maybe u should shove it before commenting
-_-
Okay back to the question, I really just need the help on my final.
@HawkCrimson, don't turn this into an argument. Nobody is against you.
okay with the difference of squares formula you have to foil out the equation can someone just tell me if what I stated prior is correct or not, if not can someone help me figure it out
x^10-x^5y^4+y^4x^5-y^8 the - y^8 was ur only mistake :)
ok sry @Hero
x^10-x^5y^4+y^4x^5-y^8 x^10 - y^8 is ur answer
okay thank you.
