Solve the following system of equations x - y = 16 2x + y = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=x-16 2x+x-16=2 3x=18 x=6 y=-10

is that all you have to do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yepp. you solve the first equation in terms of either variable (I solved it in terms of x, aka i solved for y). Then I plugged that into the second equation, so all i had left in the second equation was a bunch of x's. Once I solve the value of x, I just plug that back into either original equation, and solve the value of y
