Mostly Jews were, people who did not have blonde hair and blue eyes (Aryans),were not prosecuted. The range of people whom the Nazis prosecuted expand from Black people, to the handicapped, homosexuals, gypsies, and any other race or people who are not Aryan or who did not share the same beliefs. The political and religious reasons for the Jews being exterminated was because the Jews had different beliefs in god, and because of having different beliefs they were seen as a "different race" to the Germans. Even if the Jews were born in Germany they were seen as a threat to the society for being different.

The Christians that were prosecuted were only prosecuted because they had tried to protect Jews or other people from the Nazis.
