simplify 5x-5 / 10x^2 -25x +15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you will want to factor both the top and the bottom of the fraction. Do you know how to do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the top, you factor out a 5, since they 5x and 5 both have 5 in common. So the top of the fraction would be changed to 5(x-1). For the bottom, it would factor down to 5(x-1)(2x-3) So you would have 5(x-1) / 5(x-1)(2x-3) Then you can cancel, the 5's on top and bottom cancel, and the (x-1) on top and bottom cancel, so your final answer would be: 1 / (2x-3)
