So I have had to design a transmission system in the past and used a variety of resources and documents, does anyone have a good paper or book they found was useful that might be good for students to use if they ever had to do something like this? Something that focuses on power put into the system, gearing, and shafts for sizing for the components.

Im working on my Masters in Mechanical Engineering, I'll be finishing up in December :) I have looked into helicopter transmission systems a bit, I'm still open for my permanant job once I graduate. I do have some great things setup and in the works though.

That is so cool.  I am in school, but would love to be an engineer.  I love cars and working with my hands.  My uncle is an aerospace engineer. He did his phd thesis on helicopters.
