Welcome to OpenStudy :) Remember that you can only add terms together if they are like terms (i.e x^2 needs to go with x^2 only, you can't add it up with x^6 or x^-1 or anything like that). To add them together, simply add the coefficients (the number next to the variable) together. If I have \(15x^2 + 3x^2\), their sum would be \(18x^2\).
