How many solutions does the following system have? 4x + 8y = 16 3x + 6y = 9

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Are the lines parallel?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

That is...do they have the same slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its no sulotion

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes. you are correct. Good for you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i still need to work it out and i have no idea how

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Solve both equations for y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

That is slope-intercept form. Then you will be able to see that they have the same slope but different y intercepts and are therefore parallel.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im horrible at thiese

OpenStudy (mertsj):

I will demonstrate the first one then you can do the second one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for the help
