Which of the following ordered pairs is not a solution to the inequality y(less than or equal to sign) -2x - 3? (-4, 0) (-1, 0) (-2, -1) (0, -4)
Hey there! I see that you are new to OpenStudy. This is a great website on getting help with questions of any subject. It is a fun way of learning! If you have any additional questions involving the website feel free to ask the people with the purples A's next to their name. And also read the http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct so you know the rules and regulations :) Have a great day and I hope you have fun!
Since the question is multiple choice, you can plug in the answers. Begin by plugging in
-4 to the x 0 to the y. is the statemet then true?
If not, try the next pair, until it is true.
Plug in. Remember (x,y) if its true than its a solution :)
If its not true than its NOT a solution.
So if I plug in -4 and 0 is this what the equation would look like? -4(less than or equal to) -2(-4)-3
Not quite, I think you got your x and y mixed up. (: \[\large y \le-2x - 3\] As amelia said, plug in the x and y values. (-4, 0) (x, y) x = -4 y = 0 \[\large 0 \le-2(-4) - 3\] Solve the equation. If its true, you have your answer. If not try each of the other choices.
ok thanks i got it
welcome (:
Determine the type of boundary line and shading for the graph of the inequality y (greater than or equal to) 2x + 4 A: Dashed line with shading on the side that includes the origin. B: Solid line with shading on the side that does not include the origin. C: Dashed line with shading on the side that does not include the origin. D: Solid line with shading on the side that includes the origin. I think it is D. Am I correct
I think you are right. (:
thanks
no problem
