OpenStudy (anonymous):

the square is 22 x 28 that is easy the circle would have a radius of half of 22 or 11 and it is half a circle so 1/2 pi r^2 ya?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's exactly like the one we did before except you will add the semicircle area instead of subtract. And, it's only half a circle so the area for the circle will be 1/2*pi*r^2 like kantalope said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the area of the square is 616. but what would the radius be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Radius will be 1/2 of the diameter which is the height of the rectangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, 11?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Radius and diameters are measurements from the center of a circle to the outside. Radius is from the circle to one end and the diameter is from end to end through the center.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the area of the circle is 189.97. and then we add that to the area of the square and get 805.97 cm^2 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ft*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Except that it's only half a circle so you have to divide the circle's area by 2
