Do any of you guys have good tips for songwriting?

I am a song writer myself.. When I write songs, I am mostly in a sad mood .. If you play an instrument like guitar or piano, that can help u write a song better.. A tip is to write in this order

1st verse
Prechorus
Chorus
2nd verse
Prechorus
Chorus
Bridge
Chorus

Or something close to that

Songs that rhyme are pretty cool too :) do you need any specific tips? Like what to write about ?

Well, you don't have to take advice from me but I would say, don't do what most people on this site do. They write the words before they even have an inkling of what their song will sound like. Experiment with different melodies and harmonies until you ultimately build a nuance of sonorous sounds. After that the words will flow as they were meant to for your song. If you start out writing words, you will become just another poet like the rest of these people.

^ Exactly not what you should do. Unless you want to write a crappy song. No offense, but nobody even cares about the words until you have a good song written. As in actually melody and harmony and counter melody etc.

why npt i have made great songs and i have made them out of poems but you have to it a certain way.

If you "basically just write poems" you will end up only writing poems. The words need to come from the music. You can't just jumble a bunch of words together and then shove a melody in there. You may be able to write some sort of song that way but it doesn't come from your soul. The words need to be born from the music.

Yeah- write what you want, make it original, let it come from the heart, write your feelings, when you sing be what your singing let emotion come out and fill the room.
