TechWiz Electronics makes a profit of $35 for each MP3 player sold and $18 for each DVD player sold. Last week, TechWiz sold a combined total of 113 MP3 and DVD players. Let x be the number of MP3 players TechWiz sold last week. Write an expression for the combined total profit (in dollars) TechWiz made from MP3 and DVD players last week.
@Mertsj
What variable are we supposed to use for the DVD players?
it doesnt say
x= # of MP3 players 113-x= # of DVD players 35x = profit on MP3 players 18(113-x)=profit on DVD players Now you can write the expression for the total profit.
15x+18(113-x) ?
Did you make a typo?
yes. 35x
=P
and then what
What does the problem ask you to find?
they want the total profit
And so what is the answer?
They don't ask for the total profit. They ask for the EXPRESSION for the profit.
Write an expression...that's what it says
yea, but then where i enter the answer it says " total profit in dollars = "
Write an expression for the combined total profit (in dollars)
all i have so far is 35x+18(113-x)
So I see this has turned into a reading problem instead of a math problem. total profit in dollars = 35x+18(113-x)
The directions ask you to write an expression for the profit in dollars and then it asks profit in dollars =
the answer was actually 17x+2034
So they wanted the simplified form. Who knew.
