What is the measure of angle A in the triangle below?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See this is why SOH CAH TOA is important to know. you can solve this question using it as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find it by applying a trigonometric function in your triangle, but the values are not so friendly.

.....GUYS I have been behind for like 4 weeks I have no clue what I am doing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so \[\sin \theta=\frac{ opposite }{ hypotenuse }\] opposite meaning the length opposite the angle you are trying to find

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this case \[\sin \theta=\frac{ 12}{ 37 }\] but since we are trying to find theta we have to take inverse sin of both sides so \[\theta= \sin^{-1} \frac{ 12 }{ 37 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which comes out to approximately 18.9 degrees for angle A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin theta =BC/BA , cos theta=AC/BA and tan theta=BC/AC where theta=angle A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sin omega=ac/ab, cos omega=bc/ab and tan omega=ac/bc where angle omega= angle b
