use symmetry to evaluate the integral \[\int\limits_{-2}^{2}(3x ^{8}-2)dx\]

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

its an even function you can change the integral into 2 * integral( 3x^8 - 2) dx where now limits change from 0 to 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the whole function or just the 3x^8 part?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

it doesn't matter, whole function is even as well as 3x^8 is even since f(x) = f(-x)

oh thanks. I see where I made the mistake in my problem.

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

glad to help
