Assume this is a linear function. So this means

Slope between (0,0) and (4, -16):

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (-16 - 0)/(4 - 0)

m = -16/4

m = -4

y-intercept:

y = mx + b

y = -4x + b

0 = -4(0) + b

0 = 0 + b

b = 0

So the equation is y = -4x making the function to be f(x) = -4x

we can then check every point to make sure this is indeed the function

if x = -4, then y = -4(-4) = 16 so that works

if x = 0, then y = -4(0) = 0 so that works

if x = 4, then y = -4(4) = -16 so that works

if x = 8, then y = -4(8) = -32 so that works

all 4 checks work out, so that confirms the answer
