I was wondering if anyone knows a simple way to figure this out.

the tangents are part of an isosceles triangle (which one could prove, but there's no need to), so this means... RS = RT x/4 = x - 6.3 x = 4(x - 6.3) x = 4x - 25.2 I'll let you finish

Wait so how would you isolate x in this one? Since it is with the 4.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

x = 4x - 25.2 x - 4x = -25.2 -3x = -25.2 x = ??

Oh ok got it! Thanks!
