Write a thesis statement for the topic "why people fear change"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

People are afraid of change because change means new, new means foreign. People are afraid of the unknown. People are afraid of change because people don’t know exactly what will come out of this “change”. Most people feel comfortable in areas they know, and not the unknown, like a kid on their first day at a new school. It’s new and unknown; it’s a change. Control is something most all people want in their lives, you don’t have total control over change all of the time, which can be a scary thought for people.

.... Nice. I need three distinct points though... It doesn't matter if it's not in paragraph form... Thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

point 1: People are naturally insecure, we will do what we know because we think we can not do what could be easier and a better way. Point 2: because we are not in control of what might or what might not happen. when change is introduced to any situation people are hesitant unless someone can tell convince them that it will be for the best. Point 3: because we are conformers, we have been taught to believe in a certain idea not because it is a good idea but because it is excepted by the masses, we believe that if we see the world differently that we must be wrong because the rest of the world has excepted it, we must be missing something or not seeing the whole picture so we go along with what we know and believe it for a fact. and do not except another concept because it is not what is excepted.

Wait, I don't get point 1 and 3... Not knowing how to change doesn't mean they fear it...? And I just don't understand point 3 at all.. is it like... peer pressure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Points: 1. They are afraid people won't like it. Point 2: They are to stubborn and full of themselves Point 3. They aren't sure what will come of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can be more specific if you would like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea sure. The topic is "fear of change" where people don't want anything to change in their life. I just want 3 or 4 different points that support your view.
