Korean Demilitarized Zone (or DMZ) is an area between South and North Korea that is supposed to create a buffer between the two nations. This boundary is drawn at the 38th Parallel, the latitudinal circle drawn at 38 degrees. Although other nations have done their best to encourage cooperation and discourage it, North Korea has defied them all and threatened its southern neighbor with the use of atomic weapons.
