The volume in cubic feet of a box can be expressed as (x)=x^3-6x^2+8x , or as the product of three linear factors with integer coefficients. The width of the box is 2 – x. Factor the polynomial to find linear expressions for the height and the width.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you considered factoring, like it says?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand how to do that

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

\(x^{3}-6x^{2}+8x \) Utilize the Distributive Property where you can. \(x(x^{2}-6x+8) \) Factor, if possible \(x(x-2)(x-4)\) You've never seen that? One more thing. We re TOLD that one factor is (2-x). We don't quite have that. A little associative property and we're done. \(x(2-x)(4-x)\)
