5^x=81.2

OpenStudy (aravindg):

take log on both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Really??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so log(5)=log(81.2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*Something is missing I think..

OpenStudy (aravindg):

log 5^x=log 81.2

OpenStudy (aravindg):

now apply log a^b=b log a :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you put this into a calculator?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

before you put this into a calculator make sure you separate the x variable in Left hand side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so i should have x=log81.2/log 5?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so then what do i do? im no good at math do i just put it into the calculator like that?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i should have 2.73195? right and just round it to the nearest thousandth

OpenStudy (aravindg):

yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so the answer is wait which place is the thousandth after decimal i forgot

OpenStudy (aravindg):

I would report it as 2.732

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

OpenStudy (aravindg):
