Give an example of an ordered pair that is plotted by only moving up from the origin along the y-axis. Explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you place a dot on the origin of a coordinate plane, you will be on (0,0) now, move the dot up along the y axis. this will increase the y value in your point. If you moved up 2 boxes, you will go from (0,0) to (0,2)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

An ordered pair has the form (x, y) x is how much you move in x, or horizontally, or left and right. y is how much you move in y, or vertically, or up and down. Since you are told that you only move up, that means you don't move left or right. That means there is no change in x, so x = 0. (0, y) Now choose any number you want for y.
