Guitar question. Anyone? Trying to figure out how to effectively play and use octave chords. Any suggestions?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

you mean a chord that stretches between a whole octave? You can play it like a regular triad, it just adds overtones. More important to the sound of the chord is the mode you chose, i.e. starting with the 1st 3rd or 5th as your base note.

easiest way to play one from a 5th chord: e-----II b-----II g--6--II d--7--II a--7--II E--5--II and I just picked that chord, that is how I play them, but just use the simple structure and move it any where on the fret board, just as you would a standard 5th chord
