http://postimg.org/image/n3ijt9e47/ how do i solve this?! @jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide by 2 first and start with \[|7-7x|=x+2\] or maybe \[|7x-7|=x+2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you have to break it in to two cases since \(|7x-7|\) is a piece wise function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if \(7x-7>0\) i.e. if \(x>1\) then \(|7x-7|=7x-7\)and if \(x<1\) then \(|7x-7|=-7x+7\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want to work with the choices, check to see which ones work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

otherwise solve \[7x-7=x+2\] \[6x-7=2\] \[6x=9\] \[x=\frac{9}{6}=\frac{3}{2}\] for the case where \(x>1\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats not a choice tho?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unless its d ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if \(x<1\) it is \[-7x+7=x+2\] \[7=8x+2\] \[5=8x\] \[x=\frac{5}{8}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:o you get 5/8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks like it is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thanks so much :)
