OpenStudy (russano):

Suggestion: Let users who asked a question delete comments on their questions.

OpenStudy (russano):

Like, if I asked a question, lets take this one for example, and someone comments on it, then I should be able to delete their comment, if I find it to be objectionable.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that would be awful. Well, that would be ideal for spammers... thats all :PP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually when I'm bad >:D I wish to delete all the comments that appose me. But generally speaking... yeah. Bad idea.

OpenStudy (russano):

oppose* and how is it a bad idea? I will continue the discussion on @poopsiedoodle.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

So yeah, how is it a bad idea? It'd be like facebook does with their statuses.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh You could delete any comment that could make you look bad, or any other comment, or just use it to troll, or it could disrupt the flow of the convo.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

So, for example, maybe I didn't like your comment, so, after posting this one, I could do what my picture that is about to be attached shows.

hartnn (hartnn):

Users try to cheat by asking test questions here, if they are allowed to delete the comments, there will be no proof that they have been helped.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

That is a valid point, @hartnn. We could deter that by making it only useable by people 40-50+ smartscore. Most cheaters are caught before the time that they hit that SS, or are just people that come here once, cheat, and then leave for good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

EXCACTLY @HARTNN! They say that they don't want the teachers to see proof!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NO, @poopsiedoodle . GET OVER IT. ITS A BAD IDEA. >:|

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Stop trying to be tyto, and support your own argument, and maybe, tell me why my comprmise (about the smart score requirement) is wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

stop trying to be tyto ? Are you joking ? Tyto is the best. :) Hater.

hartnn (hartnn):

Even the users with 99 SS can cheat, why to give anyone chance ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. It could intruprut the flow of the convo. 2. It could confuse matters. 3. It could help trolls. 4. It could be used for cheating. 5. I know a lot of 60+ SS people who cheat. 6. Why ? It would do more good then bad. 7. You could cover up comments you don't want people to see.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Like, right now, I don't want sean spamming my question with gifs and off topic things. -_- So, instead of awkwardly asking him to delete them, which may or may not happen, I just delete them myself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your ignoring the bad. this would cause more chaos then good.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

If it's objectionable, #1 and #2 are out. If we have a smart score requirement on it, #4 would be out. @#5, just report them. #6 adresses everything you already said, and was unnecessary. @#7, if they are objectionable, or personal, and you DO NOT WANT THEM THERE, you could delete them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh ? what if it isn't objectinable ? they 1 and 2 stays! The mods can suspend/delete messgaes, but they can't restore them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"7. You could cover up comments you don't want people to see." - me "@#7, if they are objectionable, or personal, and you DO NOT WANT THEM THERE, you could delete them." - poop HUHHH ? My point is that people could cover up stuff. More good then bad.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

What other reason would there be to have a delete button?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could cover OTHER comments people right.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

What kind of stuff would people be covering up? They usually do that about things that they post.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh ? NO! I feel like covering up stuff when people tell me that I've avoided suspension .-. Or such things.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh ? what if it isn't objectinable ? they 1 and 2 stays! The mods can suspend/delete messgaes, but they can't restore them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

+ the cheating thing isn't solved.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"5. I know a lot of 60+ SS people who cheat." "#5, just report them." HUH ? It would be deleted! How would i know ?

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

"What other reason would there be to have a delete button?" -me Deleting bad things that are out of place does not interrupt the flow of conversation, or confuse matters. Stop multiposting, by the way.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

And stop spamming gifs everywhere.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh ? what if they aren't out of place ? Your only taking one curcomstance!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"5. I know a lot of 60+ SS people who cheat." "#5, just report them." HUH ? It would be deleted! How would i know ?

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

This is exactly the kind of thing where I would need a delete button. STOP. POSTING. THE. SAME. THING. YOU. ALREADY. POSTED.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WHAT IF THE PERSON COULD USE IT TO CHEAT, LIKE HOW HARTNN SAID.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"5. I know a lot of 60+ SS people who cheat." "#5, just report them." Doesn't apply. It would be deleted, how could I know ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And it could disrput the flow of convo! or cover up things they don't want to be let out!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it would do more good then bad.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

If it's not out of place, then you have no business deleting it.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

And people can repost their comments if they are unfairly deleted.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Let me get an example of where something like this has happened.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/515a2ee6e4b0507ceba2a0f4 HuaNbeast's comment at the bottom does not belong there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"If it's not out of place, then you have no business deleting it." Oh course they have no business of deleting it! But how do you know that since a lot of people are trolls, that they will respect that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"And people can repost their comments if they are unfairly deleted." the cycle could go on... and on...

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

The high SS people usually are not trolls. They are respectable people in the OS community. If they are trolls, and someone points it out, they can have a suspension.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

still want.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL stubborn poop >.> This is a very interesting type of persistance, coming from poop ^_^

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):
