I have been playing webkinz.com on my computer for at least 2 years. Sometime in January is took me to a dms or ds something page saying it was blocked. Then a week later, it miraculously worked again. My dad did some updates last week on the computer and ever since then it says: The website is too busy to show the webpage HTTP 408/HTTP 409 What you can try: Refresh the page. Go back to the previous page. More information I tried refreshing the page, and that didn't work. Then I tried going back to the previous
page and then I went back to webkinz.com and it still came up as what I said above. Any solutions on what to do? I am 16 and my parents are divorced. My dad won't let me call anyone over at my mom's (he's a little bit retarded) and he won't let me bring my cell over to his house from my mom's, so I can't call or text anyone at his house. The only way of connecting with my little sister over there is through webkinz. I go back and forth and see her at least twice a week, but you know, I still miss her. So can someone please help me figure this thing out? I would greatly appreciate it!
Try to go to the websites again. This time take a screen shot and post it so I can see what issue you're having.
Thank you!
408 is a Request Timeout 409 is a website Conflict Usually those indicate a problem on the website's end. Does this occur on any computer you try? Have you tried using a different browser?
Only at my dad's house. It works perfectly fine at my mom's. Sorry it took long to get back to you, my computer was being really slow.
Try downloaded Google Chrome and going to the website.
Will that work? I have tried it on firefox and internet explorer. I'll have to get my dad to download it because he has parent controls blocking downloads. He's at work right now though so it won't be until sometime tonight or tomorrow if he downloads it.
Okay, tell him that Chrome is better and faster(As it is) than Firefox and Explorer. Chrome also doesn't require you to update your flashplayer, as it updates automatically. Chrome also doesn't store cookies and clog up your computer (if you set it to Anonymous Browsing) Chrome is 100x better than IE.
Okay :) I had chrome on my old computer at my mom's and I really liked it. Thank you @Compassionate! I'll let you know if it works :)
How exactly is it set up ? Those errors are generally prompted by the website, however it doesn't seem to be that. What exactly is his setup ? What's his proxy, parental guidance (if set up), gateway, firewall ect: just tell me everything that tampers with the internet connection... if it's related to an update with a software this might be able to be fixed.
I doubt it's a proxy or Tor interfering. Parental guidance doesn't usually conflict with websites. The firewall may be blocking it, but unless the firewall was recently changed I don't see why.
Google Chrome won't change your proxy, or your internet set up. It's just a better browser, this doesn't seem to be related to the browsing UX.
@Compassionate He/she mentioned a firewall update.
Firstly: which Operating System, which service pack
I went and checked on Microsoft's website to be sure. They said it can be the browser, and that the issue is usually resolved by using a different browser.
what did you check, @Compassionate ? Those error codes ?
So like they're saying that their internet explorer browser is screwed up :P @Compassionate
He did some updates the other day, I'm not positive what updates and when I tried to get on the website the next day, it didn't work. I would have to ask him what all tampers with the internet because he changes things up a lot.I'm going to try what @Compassionate said and then if that doesn't work, I'll post back here. Thank you :-)
Yes, I did some quick research on them.
alright @katieloraine4 :)' You might want, in the future, to post this in the computer science setion.. idk if that would be more appropriete
Okay :) I'll keep that in mind
quick hint...if it is going by wifi then someone could have adjusted the wifi settings...He may have blocked you. Those are two error codes that would be caused by such a thing. If someone were to mess with the blocking of for an example a wifi router, it can not only cause those errors but it cant be fixed without access to the wifi network
But he did updates on the computer, not the connection network.
I don't know, I will have to see. I'm going to talk to him about chrome tonight and I'll also ask him if he messed with the wifi network.
sometimes wifi blockes glitch out which could have been what caused that. If wifi is used on so many computers it can glitch because it cant control all of the restrictions on all those computers. comp: If he did update it he could have messed with it and since the wifi run from the wall to the router to the wifi router to the computer so even if she is using the main computer the wifi could still be blocking her. that being said automatic time out codes would be caused as the router times out that computer from visiting that webpage and stops ie from loading it
alright. thats what I'm thinking too, @SnuggieLad something is tampering with the connection; chrome prolly coudn't fix it
That sounds good. Ask him if he installed anything that could have conflicted with certain websites. Such as, a parental block?
Katie...tell me what kind of wifi router you have...what is the name on the front
is it ethernet or is it wifi connection
even if its ethernet it is ran through the wifi box before going to the computer...if they have no wifi...i would be wrong
@katieloraine4 please tell me what kind of wifi box you have..i can help you fix this
friendly error messages. Means: The server took too long to display the webpage or there were too many people requesting the same page. "What you can do: Try the webpage again later. For further details about the HTTP errors and how to disable them refer the article mentioned below." - Microsoft Intel Administrator Method 1: Clear cached data in Internet Explorer To determine whether a performance issue or an error message is caused by corruption in the temporary Internet files or in other cached information that is used by Internet Explorer, you must clear cached data. To do this, follow these steps. For Internet Explorer 7 1. Open Internet Explorer 7. 2. Click Tools, and then click Delete Browsing History. 3. In Delete Browsing History, click Delete All. 4. Click to select the Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons check box, and then click OK.
I doubt it comp...that is too big of a corporation to have that little of a server
^
Yes, but even big companies go out time to time!
Ah-ah, wrong again. This also means that there could be lag on your end.
ethernet is a connection between the modern and the comp. doesn't use routers. routers are for wifi snugg.
There needs to be a steady connection on the sender and receivers end. It looks like Katie's internet is lagging or she needs to clear her cache/history.
whats the version of Internet Explorer, too. go to settings, and then about internet explorer
She's using Seven.
oh. thats the worst.
sean...i cant code but hardware i can play ball with the best of them...lol.. sean...if there is an ethernet connection plugged into the wifi box, then fromthe wifi box to the computer it can cause that as the security protocols go from the wifi box to the computer...everything runs through it.
yes, I know that!
@katieloraine4 what is your wifi box called
@Compassionate is right. And yes @Sean_Le_Van it sucks lol
Just @SnuggieLad , they'res no router in a ethernet connection. Thats all I was saying.
Internet Explorer 7 encounters these problems all the time! It's nothing new. That's why I've advised getting a new browser.
ya.
comp...i am not wrong...There could be lag on her end but that wouldnt cause it to go wrong on firefox...firefox lets websites load longer. so even lag that would be a slim chance
sean i know what you are saying
IE 5 - GOOD FOR THE TIME. IE 6 - BIGGEST SUCKA. 100000S VIRUSES. HORRIBLE EXPIRIENCE. EURPOPEAN GOVERNEMNETS WARNED AGAINST IT!!! IE 7 - STILL SUCKS... LESS. IE 8 - STILL SUCKS... EVEN LESS. IE 9 - WOW! IE 10 - GOLD!
It's a T Mobile Wireless G broadband router
So it's a wifi! You have a router! cool :3 And hwats your modem.
ugh...alright i hate t mobile but hold on
You're completely right, Snuggie, we don't know if you're wrong or who's right. However, in general, it tends to be an issue with the cache and/or browser. I think she should try clearing the cache and using a new browser before moving onto something more advanced, say such as, configuring the router or calling her ISP.
I don't hate it. Verizon's so dayum expnsive. T mobile cheaper (y)
@SnuggieLad @Compassionate I agree with snuggielad. How could it go wrong on both browsers ? I think it's something interfering, proxies something to do with updates, router firmware ect. Or it could just be something wrong with the Wifi, something messed up there. Or a settings.
But 408/409 errors are not an indicator of the aforementioned. It may very well just be heavy traffic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HTTP_status_codes
FireFox is PPRREETTY dayum stable :3
ok... go here katie... http://192.168.0.1 No username... password admin... it is ran by linksys so it should be fairly easy... go to the security tab and see if there are any blocked sites
Every other website I have tried to access has worked since the updates. Webkinz is the only one that this happens to.
Sean, different locations ping different servers. It can still be a traffic issue.
It's become clear to IE users that the timing out is not random or caused by any external force. 9/10 - you'll get 408/409 using an IE search engine than any other engine.
well...dont worry go to the link hit access restrictions tab and look and see if there are any blocked sites
this is what came up when I tried that @SnuggieLad
Lol. Snuggie, that won't work for her. You need to use Katie's IP address.
It absolutely could be caused by the router... that doesnt make any sence katie...try it without the http....
you are flat wrong compassionate...it is not the ip you use it is the ip settings link. Linksys uses ip settings with the link 192.168.0.1 not your ip address...that is not my ip address! that is the linksys settings link
katie..try it...
I had T Mobile, and you had to internet your IP followed by the company name... Hmm...
just this...type it into your browser 192.168.0.1 in the address bar not http though
@katieloraine4 i take it it has worked as you have yet to reply...there will be a box that pops up...type in for the password admin...then go to access restrictions and check for any blocked sites
yes...that is when tmobile did it on their own...this specific one is sponcored by linksys
I thought she was trying to access T Mobile. Lel.
no she is trying to access the administrator settings for the wifi
I did what you said but all that came up was this
I'm sorry I don't reply right away, I'm doing school while doing this too
not there...address bar...the top of internet explorer...the same place you put the http link..where it says openstudy.com...and tells you where you are...copy and paste this into there 192.168.0.1 If that doesnt work...try what compassionate said and look up on google "whats my ip address" it will tell you a number...paist that into your address bar ONLY IF WHAT I HAVE ABOVE DIDNT WORK not the search bar...that you have like on google or bing but the ADDRESS bar on the top of internet explorer
http://(your ip address here) if 192.168.0.1 doesnt work
I did the first thing you said @SnuggieLad and that's all that came up. I'll try the 2nd thing you said though.
that should work...then just type in admin for the password..dont worry about the username
I got my ip address and this is what came up. I the password you gave me but that didn't work
*I tried
The link you gave me said the page can't be displayed
ok! now we ae getting somewhere go to the page with your ip address...in that box that popped up...here is what i want you to try for the password: your last name if that doesnt work try what your wifi name is...if it is football....type in football for the password if that doesnt work...Does your dad own a bussiness..if he does whats it called...try that name for the password... if that doesnt work try admin again if that doesnt work try administrator if that doesnt work ...think of when you got the wifi router...tell me what bussiness your dad worked with then...and try the name of that normally tmobile routers are for bussiness's only so more than likely it is the name of a bussiess or your last name
you need that password..thats all you need...if you cant get it i am sorry i dont know what to tell you...restart your computer and hope for the best...if none of the above works...if you do find the password in one of the ways i said above just check for blocked sites like i told you...
oh....also..if your wifi is password protected try that password...for all of the above though leave the username blank...if that doesnt work username may = your wifi name in which case the password would equal your wifi passowrd
Okay :-) I will try that in a few minutes. I need to finish my history lesson really quick
Now it won't even load the page lol I guess I will just have to talk to my dad about it tonight and let him deal with it. Thanks @Snuggielad @Compassionate and @Sean_Le_Van for trying to help me :)
I'm katieloraine4. It began working on its own about a week ago from this past friday
thanks guys
