What is the lateral area of a cone with radius 19 cm and slant height 11 cm? 19 pie cm2 30 pie cm2 200 pie cm2 209 pie cm2

@RoseDryer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well For pyramid or cone, LA = 1/2 (perimeter of base)(slant height)

OpenStudy (phi):

pie is what you have for dessert pi is the number 3.14159.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@RoseDryer cone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what it the "perimeter" of the cone. P=circumference. So find the Circumference

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tell me what you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am working on it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

38 pi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did it differently though I did the 38 times pi and got 119.3805 then multiplied it by 11 To get 1313.1855 Then divided by 2= 656.59275 And divided by pi 208.9999 Then round up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

209

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be 209 pi cm^2 Because you would have to say that you multiply that answer by pi to get the real LA of the cone.

thanks
