You are reducing a map of dimensions 2 ft by 3 ft to fit on a piece of paper 8 in. by 10 in. What are the dimensions of the largest possible map that can fit on the page?

Assuming no extra margin, the maximum dimension will be 20/3 x 10. If we try to go full width on the smaller dimension, we need a long dimension of twelve. That isn't available. So, we go with filling in the longer dimension fully, and letting the shorter dimension be a bit less than the paper.
