I don't understand how to solve these. Help? Which of the following points lie in the solution set to the following system of inequalities? y > -3x + 3 y > x + 2 A. (2, -5) B. (-2, 5) C. (2, 5) D. (-2, -5) they aren't the answers i'm getting
well doyou know how to solve system of equations?
ummm, y=mx+b ?
the way to do this is replace x and y in the relations with numbers and see if the relation is true. For example, choice A is (2,-5) these pairs always mean (x,y). In other words x =2 and y= -5 use those numbers in y > -3x + 3 --> -5 > -3*2 +3 ? y > x + 2 --> -5 > 2+2 ? the first simplifies to -5 > -3 not true no need to check the 2nd, but if we did: -5 > 4 is also not true so choice A does not work can you test the other choices ?
thank you! I didn't know I had to gtest all the choices.. loll
