Find a positive value in the equation 1+3cos pi/8 (x+7)=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what we're looking for is a value when cos(pi/8)(x+7) = -1/3, correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes! at least i believe so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, there is no simple answer for this question, to be honest. You're going going to have to take the inverse cos of (-1/3), and set that equal to (x+7)*(pi/8), and then just solve for x. in the end, x will equal -11.8 or something like that

okay! Thanks!
