i have visited this website before, but i still don't understand..

a combination of words in a language, that happens very often and more frequently than would happen by chance ‘Resounding success’ and ‘crying shame’ are English collocations.

they are just combination of words like phrases or more often words that goes together, for example: pale skin (adjective+noun)

so "pale skin" is correct, but you can not say "pale hair"

because hair can be white, but skin can not be. Here it is wrong collocation
