Which event was the first to cause tension between the Soviet Union and President Kennedy? U.S. involvement in South Vietnam Soviet building of the Berlin Wall U.S. involvement in the Bay of Pigs invasion Soviet missiles found in Cuba

OpenStudy (nurali):

I think U.S. involvement in South Vietnam

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You sure its U.S. involvement in South Vietnam? Cause the Vietnam war (From what i know) dint include S.U.??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is what i found What basically caused tensions between the US and the USSR After World War II was Joseph Stalin's view that the world is divided into two camps: imperialist and capitalist regimes on the one hand, and the Communist and progressive world on the other. In 1947, President Harry Truman also spoke of two diametrically opposed systems: one free, and the other bent on subjugating other nations. After Stalin's death, Nikita Khrushchev stated in 1956 that imperialism and capitalism could coexist without war because the Communist system had become stronger. Interspersed with some moves toward cooperation, however, were hostile acts that threatened broader conflict, such as the uprising in Hungary in 1956 which was quelled brutally by Soviet Tanks, the Cuban missile crisis of October 1962 and the Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia of 1968. The Cold War was a period of East-West competition, tension, and conflict short of full-scale war, characterized by mutual perceptions of hostile intention between military-political alliances or blocs. There were real wars, sometimes called "proxy wars" because they were fought by Soviet allies rather than the USSR itself -- along with competition for influence in the Third World, and a major superpower arms race. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100522115806AA09rk5
