what is the function of asters of centrosomes?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Aster is a structure of a centrosome from which microtubules extend. Kinetochore microtubules, to form mitotic spindles, connect to centrosomes and center chromosomes at the middle of the cell (metaphase plate) during metaphase, then they pull the two pairs of homologs apart. asters also extend polar microtubules involved in cell elongation which aid in cytokinesis.
