Solve for x: (x−7)2−25=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiply 2x and 2*7

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

This is NOT any different from the last one. Please show your efforts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NEGATIVE 7! Not seven xD

OpenStudy (cooltowl):

does it come out to (x-7)(x-7)

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

No. You just magically discarded the 25. Don't do that. 25 = 5^2. Factor the expression on the left-hand side.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I believe it should be \((x-7)^{2} - 25 = 0\)

OpenStudy (cooltowl):

i got x=12 or x=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused? Did you mean what tkhunny wrote? becayse you wrote something diff in ur question xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuz if you meant the one with the little two. then yeah, you did it right xD

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Please use ^ for an exponent. Don't make us guess. x-squared would be "x^2"
