(Algebra Help) In this equation I am to simplify (8z - 10) ÷ (-2) + 5(z - 1). After struggling to solve it myself and reaping wrong results, I used an online math solver to help me, but even the first step is confusing! If you are knowledgeable please help me

why would I multiply by 1/2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you asking for the last step? \[\int x^ndx={x^{n+1}\over n+1}+C\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the exponent of "z" is n = 1 so, its integration gives you z^2 and a division by "2"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(8z - 10) ÷ (-2) + 5(z - 1) is my original problem. idk why the program solved for that, it's -2 not 1/2 i thought maybe it was using a formula or something
