Yeah ratios can show if triangles are congruent, because for two triangles to be congruent: all sides are equal in length or two sides and the included angle are equal, or two angles and a pair of corresponding sides are equal, for right angled triangles, the hypotenuses and one other pair of sides are equal.... so you can use the ratios to work out the lenghts of the sides or the angles and then see if they apply to one of the cases above
