what's d difference between homolysis and heterolysis

OpenStudy (abb0t):

homolysis, the prefix "homo" means same. and "lysis" I believe means to loosen or break apart. And since this is in chemistry, I believe it has to do with the breakage of a molecule into two neutral fragments. On the otherhand, heterolysis, "hetero" meaning different, would mean the breakege of a molecule into forming ions.
