How can you factor x^2 +1.84x - 12.25 = 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the quadratic formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have the quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I know it but I don't know how to set it up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay for the formula: B = the coefficient of the x variable that has only one degree C = is the constant A = the coefficient of the x variable that has two degrees Do you know what coefficients or degrees are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Coefficient is the number before variables. The coefficient of the x^2 is 1. The coefficient of the x is 1.84 The constant at the end does not have a coefficient, it is just a number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Degrees means what the variable is raised to. x^2 has a degree of 2 because x is being raised to the power of 2 x has a degree of 1 because x is being raised to the power of 1. Let me know if you have any questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^1 = x
