Timothy is four years old. Janet is three times as old as Timothy. When Timothy turns twelve, how old will Janet be? *

OpenStudy (anonymous):

48

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

step by step please @amandaschlor !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its just 12x3=48

OpenStudy (anonymous):

timothy is 4 years old that makes janet 12, when timothy turns 12 then it is +8 years and janet is 20 then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not 48

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

how you have got this ? 12*3 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@David51 but why do you add and not multiply by 3??????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says that janet is three times as old as tim so you 3 with 4 which makes 12 . So you get that janet is 12 at the moment
