how did the health of american families change in the 1950s?
People moved from cities to suburbs. Visual picture: \(\large \text{Cities} \Rightarrow \text{Suburbs}\) Not to mention the time was well. The country had gotten to work, commercial buildings and highways were created. Also WWII had just ended thus creating a boom in population. Not to forget television! The worlds favorite way of entertainment was created.
Because of all these things, you can say everyday life improved so as health. In a sense... Cities were usually riddled with diseases, or sicknesses because of overpopulation. So you can see how it help to a point.
I would say it went up. Globalization, massive farming. Food, and shelter and clothing was more readily accessable.
