Choices are : 2 3 6 7 I thought it was 3 but I got it wrong.

You must cross multiply: 6x-12=3x+9 and work it out from there.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
6x-12=3x+9 -3x -3x ------------ 3x-12=9 +12 +12 ----------- 3x= 21 21/3= 7
