30 ounces = ____lb ____oz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Avoirdupois or troy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Avoirdupois pounds have 16 ounces, troy pounds have 12.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 Pound is equal to 16 ounces (oz). So 16 goes into 30 1 time with 14 left over. So you have 1lb, 14oz OR 1.875lbs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thank you ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In Pre-Algebra they always use Avoirdupois.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol not gonna lie never even heard of that in my life and im almost 20! FAIL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I was just being beat and was playing around. :-) Troy is pretty much only used in scientific work and for weighing precious metals. The rest of the world uses avoirdupois... :-)
