To turn a decimal into a fraction 1. Count the number of places after the decimal. 2. Construct the denominator as 1 with the same number of 0's after it as you counted in step 1. 3. The numerator is the given decimal number with the decimal point erased and any 0's in the front erased. 4. Put the numerator for step 3 over the denominator from step 4. 5. Reduce the fraction. 6. If this is an improper fraction and your teacher wants a mixed fraction, change to a mixed fraction.
lets use 0.85
divide the top number by the bottom
how many places r after the decimal ?
2 right ? @curesem
yh
The denominator is 1 with 2 0's after it, which is 100
right
Yes it is !! The numerator is 0.85 with the decimal point removed and the 0 on the front erased. So the numerator is 85
so you Put the numerator 85 over the denominator 100 as what?
@curesem
ive done figured it out my prob was acatlly like that but thanks for helping
ok btw are u in 7th grade
yes
why
OR, you could take the improper fraction, put it proper, then you could turn it into a decimal, lets take \[\frac{13}{4}\] first thing you would do is make it into \[3\frac{1}{4}\] then you could easily understand that the answer would be 3.25. Thanks for reading!
thx for helping
